A grand book fair started from 1st February on the premises of Bangla Academy with great enthusiasm. It is a month long fair. It was inaugurated by The Prime Minister. On that occasion, the total environment was festive look. A huge number of books on different subjects were beautifully decorated in almost 300 Bookstalls. The main purpose of the publishers was not sale but display of books on different subjects. Thousands of visitors come to buy the books of their favourite writers and also to meet with them. Many new writers start their career from this book fair. Many famous writers were seen in their respective stalls. I visited a lot of stalls. There were storybooks, novels, comics, science fictions books and so on. I saw some teenagers try to take autographs from Emdadul Haque Milon. I also saw the famous writer Humayun Azad.  I bought several books written by him. The fair remains open from 8 am to 10 pm. It helps the people enlighten their minds year after year.

Yesterday, a grand village fair was held at the village Bhulundia under Shailkupa Upazilla on the occasion of Pahela Baishskh, the Bengali New Year’s Day. It was inaugurated by the local Chairman. The day was festive look. After all, the fair represented our tradition and culture. Thousands of villagers from different neighboring villages came to visit the fair.

It continued from morning to evening. Various types of stalls were set up from one corner to another in rows. Children were buying toys and sweets. They enjoyed it very much. The main attractions of the fair / mela were nagor dola, puppet show, magic show, kabigan, jarigan, lathi khala ete. Local handicrafts were sold remarkably. People of all classes were enjoyed the day very much.

Yesterday the annual science fair was held in KD College with great enthusiasm. On that occasion, the college was decorated nicely and the day was a very festive look. At least 20 colleges took part in this fair. Each team consisting of 5 members got a separate stall. It was inaugurated by local MP at 10 am. He visited different projects invented by the students and became satisfied. The remarkable inventions were a solar energy production project, a windmill and a bio-gas production system. Thousands of local people and students have enjoyed the display. They appreciated the efforts of our students. At 6 pm the MP distributed the prizes among the winners and delivered a short speech. He upheld the importance of science in our everyday life. At 7 pm, the principal concluded the fair thanking all.
