Food adulteration with poisonous chemicals has reached a dangerous
level and posing a serious health threat in the country. Yesterday, at least 30 people in Jhenidah city fell
sick after taking adulterated / poisonous
food. 20 people out of them were admitted into the District Sadar Hospital. While writing the report, 2
people have already been expired and 5
people are in critical situation. The affected persons said that they had
bought 40 dish rice and carry from a nearby hotel. They felt pain in stomach
after eating that food. Some started vomiting. Then they became serious ill.
Police arrested the manager of the hotel. He confessed that the food was adulterated and cooked two days before. The owner of
the hotel was able to escape. The local people have demanded an exemplary
punishment against him. The victims were the labours of a construction firm. A
case has already been filed in the local police station.

country. It is a great threat to our lives. Everywhere whether it is city or
village adulteration has spread its deadly claw. After taking a sudden visit to
Malibug market in Dhaka city by a mobile team, it is proved that food
adulteration has really crossed the dangerous level. It is usually caused for
mixing formalin and other poisonous chemicals in various essential food items.
The dishonest sellers use all these harmful chemicals in foods like fishes,
fruits, vegetables etc. to keep the foods fresh looking and lasting longer. Definitely formalin and chemicals ensure slow
poisoning in the human body and lead to slow death. Many people have already hospitalized eating
adulterated food.
The mobile court has instantly fined the seller 5 thousand taka as punishment. But this is not a permanent solution. So, govt. should imply a strict law to remove this problem. Otherwise the adulteration issue will surely go beyond control and many precious lives will be led to the death.
