Drugs are the chemical substances that are used for the treatment
or cure of various diseases or physical and mental disorders.
But when the drug is taken only for
pleasure and habit is called drug addiction. It is detrimental to health and
leads a man to confirm the death. The person who once starts taking drugs cannot
stop it. So, drug addiction has become a major problem in the world including
Bangladesh and India.
There are various types of drugs such
as Yabba, cocaine, marijuana, morphine, opium, heroin, Phencyclidine,
and so on. All these drugs cause unwanted death.
For many reasons, people are addicted
to the drug. Frustration is one of them. Besides this unemployment problem,
lack of family ties, lack of love and affection, political anarchy, social
unrest, etc. are the most common reasons for drug addiction.
The after-effects of drug addiction
are terrible. It destroys the addicts physically, mentally, socially, and
financially. The Health of drug addicts breaks down. After taking the drug the
addict feels drowsy, loses appetite, and falls asleep. It demolishes mental
power and courage. It causes cancer, blood pressure, heart disease, amnesia,
insomnia, and many other respiratory diseases. It also causes brain, kidney,
and liver damage. It kills a man slowly but surely.
Sometimes the addicts not being able
to buy costly drugs, they commit various crimes like hijacking, looting, and
robbery, plundering and killing.
So, Drug addiction should be stopped
anyhow. To get rid of drug addiction, Govt. should prohibit the production of harmful drugs. Drug trafficking
also has to be controlled strictly and traders should be punished seriously.
People also will have to be aware of
the harmful effect of drugs. Mass media can also play a vital role to solve the
problem.
